Our Facilities

The RIGL consists of two class 1000 low-metal chemistry labs with class 10 workstations, an “oven room” for high-temperature digestions and sample preparation, and a temperature-controlled room for a Phoenix X62 thermal ionization mass spectrometer. The TIMS instrument will has a dedicated control room that opens into the hallway.

The lab is designed for high-precision, low-blank U-Pb geochronology using isotope-dilution thermal ionization mass spectrometry. It will also have the capability of measuring the Sr, Nd, and Pb isotope compositions of a variety of natural and synthetic materials.
