Research and Educational Outreach

Professor Marty Frisbee.
Outreach presentation to the Fremont Conservation District in Colorado.

I actively participate in and plan research-related outreach activities to rural communities and tribal nations.  I grew up in a rural community in North Carolina.  This experience influenced my perspective on science and it wasn't until I began my M.S. that I fully appreciated the geosciences.  In addition, having grown up in a rural community and having worked in environmental consulting after my Ph.D., I am well aware that scientific findings don't always reach the rural communities or tribal nations.  This is especially true for the geosciences.  I frequently give presentations for tribal nations, local watershed groups, conservation districts, etc.
