Dan Shepardson - Co-Project Investigator

Professor of GeoEnvironmental and Science Education, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. Dr. Shepardson, project Co-Principal investigator, has expertise in inquiry and issues-based pedagogy, assessment, and environmental education.


Jon Harbor - Co-Project Investigator

Professor of Environmental Geoscience, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. Dr. Harbor, project Co-Principal investigator, contributes scientific expertise and teaching in environmental science and watersheds, field-based research, and lab investigations.


William Boone - External Evaluator

Indiana University, is responsible for evaluating the project.  Professor Boone has expertise in designing and conducting evaluation projects, having conducted over 10 external evaluation studies.


Mary Cutler - Tippecanoe County Naturalist

Directs environmental education programs and activities for Tippecanoe County. Ms. Cutler will assist with the summer institute instruction, providing expertise in wetland and stream ecology.


Bryan Wee - Program Coordinator

Doctoral candidate at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN.  Bryan holds a BA in Economics/Wildlife Science, and a MS in Conservation Biology.  His research interests include student learning in environmental science education, environmental interpretation, curriculum reform and multiculturalism. He is currently working on his dissertation involving middle school students' conceptualizations and views on land use, and how that reflects human-nature relationships.


Juli Fast - Master Teacher 2002-2004

Former middle school teacher and a graduate student in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. Miss Fast has an undergraduate degree in and is certified to teach at the secondary level. She is currently working toward a Masters Degree in Science Education.



Wilella Burgess - Outreach Coordinator

Outreach Coordinator in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN works to improve science literacy among children in K-12. Ms. Burgess has extensive experience in developing educational programs for nontraditional and special needs audiences.


Wendy Melton - Graduate Assistant

Master's student in Biology Education and obtaining a biology teaching certificate.  Mrs. Melton has a BS in biology from Purdue University (May 2003).  She hopes to teach in middle school or high school when she finishes her master's degree and certification.  In the future, she would like to work as an education director at a museum or zoo.  Mrs. Melton is working with Mr. Wee on the ENVISION project to develop manuscripts from the participants' lesson plans and interviews.


Michelle Priddy - Graduate Assistant

Master's student in Geoenvironmental Science Education, Department of Curriculum & Instruction. Michelle has a BS in Forestry and Natural Resources from Purdue University, and she hopes to teach environmental science in an informal setting such as a national park or museum.  Michelle is currently analyzing national data on students' environmental perceptions for the ENVISION project, and is also teaching a capstone course for elementary science education majors.


Lauren Schellenberger - Graduate Assistant  

Doctoral student in Science Education, Department of Curriculum & Instruction. Lauren holds a master's degree in plant pathology from Purdue University and an undergraduate degree in Soil Science from the University of Illinois. She is currently analyzing students' conceptions of water cycles/watersheds, and conducting research on gender equity in Engineering curriculum.

 

Ted Leuenberger - Master Teacher 2000-2001

Graduate of Purdue University. (BS 73, MS 76), has taught science at Benton Central Jr/Sr High School for 27 years. Mr. Leuenberger is currently teaching 7th Grade Earth Science, 9th Grade Life Science, and Elementary Planetarium.


Mark Koschmann - Master Teacher 2001-2002
Science teacher and Outdoor Education Director for grades 7-8 at Concordia, Fort Wayne. Graduate of Concordia University (BS 76), Seward, Nebraska and Wayne State University (M.Ed. 81), Detroit, Michigan.
