Forecasting Club

Our Forecasting Club is a new sub-club to PUMA that was created in Fall 2013. Setting up base on the 4th floor of the Hampton building, this club is for anyone who is interested in forecasting weather. Members have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with forecasting tools and numerical weather models all while learning the science behind it. All are welcome to come out and nerd out about the weather!

We currently forecast for our well over 1k follower Twitter account, our Facebook page, our YouTube channel, the local NPR radio station WBAA, and the Purdue athletic depatment. We won't be stopping here though, we are always on the look out for more customers to utilize our products.

Our forecasts are available to be viewed at anytime of the year on our website under Purdue Weather. We also have a Purdue WRF model that is run twice a day at 00z and 12z which is available for public use here. The specifics on our model configuration can be found there as well.

As you can see by the picture below, we have a large operation and we all get together weekly. This is good since most of our members are Atmospheric majors. However, with our busy schedules, meeting times may vary from week to week. Feel free to contact any officer to find out when we are meeting.
