I’m Srilani Wickramasinghe from Sri Lanka. I obtained my B.Sc. in Green Technology from University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka in 2016. I’ve always been really fascinated and happy around rivers and streams. My interest to further explore them grew during my final year bachelors research project where I got to work on surface water pollution in an urban catchment area in Kandy, Sri Lanka. I’ve also completed my Masters in Environmental Sciences & Engineering from Tsinghua University, China, where I was a part of the Soil and Groundwater Lab team. I’m currently a first year PhD student and I’m working on building my research scope around exploring how the long term changes that we do to large river basins such as land use & land cover changes and agriculture impact groundwater – base flow dynamics in watersheds such as the Wabash river basin in Indiana.

My name is Ayobami Oluwadunsin Oladapo and I am from Nigeria. I obtained my BTech. in Geology from the Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria in 2018 . I am passionate about the environment, particularly in proffering solutions to surface water and groundwater contamination issues associated with diverse sources and this has fueled my interest to further explore and widen my horizons. I am currently a first year Masters student and my aim is to advance my skills in hydrologic and surface processes and contaminant fate and transport, which lie at an interface between hydrogeology, hydrology, and geochemistry. In my research, I am using isotopic and geochemical tracers to understand the interactions between alpine glaciers and mountain groundwater systems by assessing the impact of glacier melt recharge on mountain groundwater processes and their role in generating perennial flow to local- to regional-scale springs. I am interested in using these skills to assess the vulnerability of ground water in our high mountains and the impacts they have on the sustainability and usage of water in our communities.

I am Mariana Sierra Arboleda from Colombia. I am an undergraduate student of geological engineering at the National University of Colombia. I am doing my undergraduate thesis research on relationships between geomorphology and groundwater. I am passionate about nature and the planet we live on. My motivation is to understand the interaction between nature and human beings, thus contributing to the construction of the bridge that allows a balance between them. My topics of interest are geohazards, geomorphology, hydrogeology, geochronology, pollution and ecosystem preservation.
